I am so very thankful for my baby sister. :) There are tons of quotes out there that describe the importance of family. There's also a good set of quotes on the bond between sisters. I found the one to the left and it only scratches the surface of what my little sister means to me. Having her in my life is a constant reminder of why I need to do well for myself. If she is looking at me as an example, I can only hope that she will surpass anything that I am blessed enough to achieve in life! My baby sister is so talented and beautiful. She's an important part of my life that I would never trade to be an only-child (hahahahaha). Peace and Blessings to you dear readers. Happy Saturday! -With Love, Jewel

So today was a magical day for me in New York City.
I am so, so, so happy and thankful to be here! Today is, indeed, the 15th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 - a very sad and historic moment in history. For me, today reminded me why New York is so great and why it's important to be grateful for life's blessings. After pulling myself out of bed laaaatee in the afternoon, I decided to pop into Lower Manhattan for some coffee and something to eat. I got a suggestion from my friend for Aroma Espresso Bar on Church Street and decided to check it out. It was a great and very delicious choice. I highly recommend the California Chicken Sandwich and the Iced Aroma with whipped cream - yum! Once I had completely stuffed myself with edible goodness, I made my way to the Union Square area for church! I was originally headed to Hillsong NYC's campus at Irving Plaza but I discovered Every Nation NYC around the corner and decided to check it out. It was a really refreshing evening of worship and a reminder that, even in this busy city, time with God is always the best idea. On my way back to BK for the night, I stumbled upon a full on dance party in Union Square Subway Station. Y'all, seriously? Only in New York! When I finally managed to pull myself from the "party of a lifetime" :), I ended up on the Q train home and took in the beautiful Manhattan views as the train crossed the Manhattan Bridge over the East River. SO magical! As I prepare for the work week ahead, I am choosing to be joyful and thankful! With all the troubles and stresses of this world, it only does the soul well to think positively. Y'all have a wonderful night! :) -Jewel I am thankful for a running car!
So I got my first car at the beginning of last year and I am so grateful for the change it has brought to my life! In a September 2014 post which can be found here, I mentioned how much I enjoy the upsides of public transportation. I still do! However, there are, obviously, some downsides. Grocery shopping is an example that immediately comes to mind! Oh the struggle of deciding if I should buy orange juice OR milk because the thought of buying both in one trip and having to lug extra heavy grocery bags on the bus was discouraging. Another example - taking my puppy to the vet, dog park, pet store, etc. I got Melio around the same time I got my car and I really don't know what would have happened if I couldn't drive him around. Haha....I kinda know. We most likely would have been on less trips to the park, I would have brought home smaller bags of food from the pet store, and we would have to beg...I mean, ask...good friends for rides to the vet. But, thank God for a car! I have a lot of respect for those of us who do not have the option of driving ourselves around. I know what it's like. To me, those pre-car, pre-driving years only prepared me for my updated state. :) All the best y'all! For those of you saving or waiting on your opportunity to drive - hang in there! Love, Jewel |
